TOWN HALL meeting: OLIVEBRIDGE
A town hall meeting happens when people meet to discuss issues, problems, challenges and concerns facing the local town. The meetings are open to everybody in a town community and held at the local municipal building. Attendees generally present ideas, voice their opinions, ask questions of the public figures, elected officials, and companies.
SHould NYC Be allowed to Build the Dam?
- Take your town hall meeting role card with your partner and decide which side of the debate you are on.
- Each partnership must take a stance either for or against the building of the NYC watershed system according to their role in the 1900’s. In other words are you for or against the building of the dam and reservoir. Think about your role and the reasons for your support or your opposition to the consturction.
- Each partnership must create a campaign poster to make their position clear.
- Each partnership must come up with a list of benefits or disadvantages of the reservior and dam.
- Each partnership must persuade others at the town hall meeting that their point of view is the right point of view.
- Each partnership will present their stance at a town hall meeting.
